Bob Marley’s “By the River of Babylon” lyrics

It’s not typical for me to post other people’s lyrics here.

That being said, I don’t know where else these lyrics may be more accurately written (even though I realize these lyrics are also slightly off)…

By the rivers of Babylon,
Where we sat down,
And there we wept
When we remembered Zion.

‘Cause the wicked
Carried us away, captivity,
Required from us a song.
How can we sing King Alpha’s song
In a strange land?

‘Cause the wicked
Carried us away, captivity,
Required from us a song.
How can we sing King Alpha’s song
In a strange land?

(Improv.)

So let the words of our mouth
And the meditations of our hearts
Be acceptable in thy sight
Over I.

So let the words of our mouth
And the meditations of our hearts
Be acceptable in thy sight
Over I.

(Improv.)

By the rivers of Babylon,
Where we sat down,
And there we wept
When we remembered Zion.

‘Cause the wicked
Carried us away, captivity,
Required from us a song.
How can we sing King Alpha’s song
In a strange land?

‘Cause the wicked
Carried us away, captivity,
Required from us a song.
How can we sing King Alpha’s song
In a strange land?

(Improv.)
